Optometrist and Orthoptist Educator

Job Responsibilities
  • Meet annual performance targets to ensure excellence in teaching and learning.
  • Collaborate with senior academics to create a high-quality academic environment that fosters student growth.
  • Teach assigned courses according to faculty workload policy, promoting engaging and effective learning experiences.
  • Continuously develop your teaching skills and contribute to program planning, staying up-to-date with best practices.
  • Employ innovative strategies to facilitate experiential learning, encouraging critical thinking and debate.
  • Supervise student projects, field trips, and placements, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Assess student work and examinations, offering constructive feedback to promote academic excellence.
  • Maintain accurate records of student performance for internal evaluation.
  • Lead a team of students through a mentoring program, fostering their growth and development.
  • Update data in virtual learning environments and other required software, ensuring seamless integration.
  • Embed Islamic and ethical values in teaching, participating in departmental and university committees as required.
  • Ensure teaching content and methods align with the mission of the institution, addressing staff and student needs promptly.
  • Monitor student attendance in classes, labs, and practicals, taking corrective action when necessary.
  • Pursue research initiatives, publishing findings or disseminating them through other media channels.
  • Apply research outcomes in real-world settings, driving innovation and impact.
  • Conduct independent research, leading projects and acting as principal investigator or project leader.
  • Act as a line manager, overseeing the work of others in research teams or projects, and serving as a PhD supervisor when required.
