We are seeking an experienced Optometrist/Orthoptist to join our teaching team as a Lecturer. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching and learning experiences to students, contributing to the planning of teaching programs, and developing your own teaching and learning skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Meet annual targets assigned by the Head of Department;
  • Work to secure a high-quality teaching and learning environment for students, aligning with university goals;
  • Teach assigned courses according to faculty workload policy;
  • Develop and implement innovative teaching strategies, facilitating experiential learning;
  • Challenge thinking, foster debate, and promote critical discourse and rational thinking among students;
  • Supervise student projects, field trips, and placements, providing guidance and support;
  • Set, mark, and assess work and examinations, offering constructive feedback to students;
  • Maintain accurate records of students' academic performance for internal evaluation;
  • Execute mentoring roles for 15-20 students as part of the Riphah Mentoring Program;
  • Update data in relevant software, ensuring accuracy and timeliness;
  • Integrate Islamic and ethical values into teaching practices, participating in departmental and university committees as required;
  • Ensure teaching content and methods align with the university's mission, addressing subordinates' and students' needs;
  • Monitor and check student attendance in classes, labs, and practicals;
  • Pursue research and disseminate findings through publications or appropriate media;
  • Cultivate practical applications of research findings;
  • Engage in independent research, act as principal investigator, and lead projects;
  • Act as a line manager, supervising others in research teams and projects, or serving as PhD supervisor when needed;
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you should possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be able to motivate and inspire students, and demonstrate a commitment to ongoing professional development.

A strong background in optometry/orthoptics, along with experience in teaching and research, is essential. You should also be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and adapting to changing priorities.
