Medical Coder

We are seeking a skilled Medical Coder to join our team. This is a critical role that requires attention to detail and strong analytical skills.

  • The ideal candidate has experience in medical coding, ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes. They should be familiar with various specialties and have knowledge of billing software, EHRs, and clearinghouse portals.

  • The Medical Coder will review patient charts, visit notes, and superbills for coding completeness. They will assign appropriate ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes based on documentation and apply modifiers accurately where needed.

  • The successful candidate will have certification in medical coding (CPC, CCS, or equivalent) and 1–2 years of hands-on experience in U.S. medical coding. They will also have excellent attention to detail and organizational skills, as well as strong communication skills and the ability to work within a team environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • 1. Review patient charts, visit notes, and superbills for coding completeness.

  • 2. Assign appropriate ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes based on documentation.

  • 3. Apply modifiers accurately where needed based on payer-specific rules.

  • 4. Collaborate with the charge entry and claim submission team to ensure coding accuracy.

  • 5. Stay updated on changes in coding rules, CMS updates, and payer-specific policies.

  • 6. Assist in internal coding audits and ensure compliance with HIPAA and regulatory standards.

  • 7. Support denial management team with coding clarification and appeals, if required.
