Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Medical Coding Specialist to join our team.

  • Extract relevant information from patient records, including diagnoses and procedures.
  • Review patient documents for completeness and accuracy, contacting healthcare staff if necessary.
  • Assign the correct codes for procedures, services, diagnoses, and anesthesia using systems like CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10-CM, and ASA.
  • Determine APC and DRG codes for outpatient and inpatient services respectively.
  • Verify accuracy and grammar in all documents.
  • Perform regular chart audits to ensure correct code application and billing accuracy.
  • Provide guidance and training to physicians and staff on proper coding practices and procedures.
  • Report any technical issues related to coding software or equipment to your supervisor.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, preferably in healthcare or medical coding.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in medical coding, specifically with CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10-CM, ASA, APC, and DRG coding.
  • Proficiency in medical coding systems, electronic health records (EHR), and coding software.
  • Strong understanding of medical coding guidelines, policies, and healthcare regulations.
  • Excellent attention to detail and communication skills in English.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize responsibilities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
