Job Role: Electrical Engineer

About the Position

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to perform a wide range of tasks with guidance and support from other engineering and management staff. Hydro-electric equipment duties include generators, governors, excitation systems, circuit breakers, switchgear, motor control centers, motors, control boxes, relay panels, lighting systems, power distribution systems, instrumentation, and diesel engine-generator sets.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare specifications and other engineering documents for procuring, installing, and commissioning hydro-electric equipment and systems.
  • Plan and direct refurbishment projects from disassembly to return to service.
  • Troubleshoot equipment failures and perform root cause analysis to eliminate repeat failures.
  • Represent the company at shop inspections and factory acceptance tests related to hydro-electric systems.
  • Direct contractors and project staff at facilities to accomplish equipment repair and upgrades.
  • Provide operations & maintenance with industry best practices to drive equipment operational reliability and minimize unplanned downtime.
  • Manage project implementation and complete projects on time and on-budget.
  • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to support project integration.
  • Utilize predictive data analysis to enhance equipment performance and recommend outage schedules for performing preventative maintenance.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or four years' work experience in a related field.
  • Ability to travel as required for project supervision and execution (up to 30%).
  • Strong understanding of power systems, including transmission, and distribution.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with other disciplines.
  • Experience with industrial electrical systems and maintenance practices.
Working Conditions
  • Ability to climb ladders and work at heights on or near water.
  • Dexterity to manipulate various size components.
  • Ability to handle rapidly changing situations under stress.
