Accounting Associate Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Accounting Associate to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, with experience in day-to-day bookkeeping, reconciliations, and VAT-related tasks.

  • Maintain accurate financial records in Zoho Books and Xero (AR/AP, journals, month-end close).
  • Perform bank, credit card, and intercompany reconciliations.
  • Prepare VAT workings (output/input tax), ensure correct tax codes, and assist with UAE VAT returns/filings and supporting schedules.
  • Create and review invoices, bills, expense claims; ensure documentation meets VAT evidence standards.
  • Prepare monthly reports (P&L, Balance Sheet, AR/AP ageing, cash flow snapshots).
  • Support year-end and auditor requests; maintain organized workpapers.
  • Monitor deadlines, maintain trackers, and escalate issues proactively.
  • Communicate clearly with clients to resolve discrepancies and collect missing documents.

Key qualifications and skills:

  • ACCA or CIMA qualified (completed).
  • 2–3 years of hands-on accounting experience (practice or industry).
  • Practical knowledge of VAT rules (zero-rating, exempt vs taxable supplies, reverse charge, designated zones, input tax recovery).
  • Proficiency in Zoho Books and Xero; strong Excel/Google Sheets skills (vlookup/xlookup, pivot tables).
  • Solid grasp of double-entry, accruals/prepayments, and month-end controls.
  • High attention to detail, confidentiality, and deadline discipline.
  • Clear written and spoken English.
