Parts Department Manager

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to oversee our expanding parts department.

The ideal candidate must have a strong background in parts and distribution, excellent problem-solving skills, and superior customer service abilities.

This person should be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment, implement new systems, and effectively distribute parts to employees and customers.

  1. Maintain a balanced inventory that meets the needs of our service department, commercial, and wholesale accounts.
  2. Assist in establishing pricing parameters for each customer category to ensure sufficient gross profit while maintaining customer loyalty.
  3. Determine optimal individual parts inventory levels and balance them for maximum turnover.
  4. Monitor and adjust inventory to minimize obsolescence and optimize stock levels.
  5. Ensure that all returned or warranty parts are properly tagged for full credit recovery from the factory.
  6. Assist in supervising stock order procedures and ensuring technicians have access to necessary parts and materials.
  7. Oversee purchasing of supplies and materials for the Service Department, adhering to company policies on special ordering.
  8. Analyze sales, expenses, and inventory monthly to maintain profit goals and identify areas for improvement.
  9. Develop and implement an aggressive wholesale and retail parts program to drive profits.
  10. Provide high-quality service to both external and internal dealership customers.
  11. Collaborate with Operations and Service Managers to ensure timely turnaround of parts for internal jobs.
  12. Assess departmental operations and storage layout to maximize efficiency.
  13. Offer technical assistance to employees and customers as needed.
  14. Coordinate prompt, efficient, and timely processing of paperwork and shipping/receiving efforts.
  15. Contribute to developing sales promotions and exploring new parts business opportunities.
  16. Enforce and monitor customer satisfaction guidelines, addressing complaints promptly and escalating concerns to the appropriate personnel as necessary.
  17. Verify accurate accounting for all purchases before payment is made.
  18. Maintain a professional appearance and be willing to accept additional responsibilities as requested.
Job Requirements
  • Possess a strong sales-oriented mindset.
  • Demonstrate a motivated and fast-paced personality with a solid work ethic.
  • Have automotive experience (parts sales, management, estimation, adjustment, service writing).
  • Be proficient in computer skills.
  • Show excellent organizational skills.
  • Demonstrate exceptional phone etiquette and ability to multitask and make informed decisions.
  • Pass background screening.
  • Exhibit the ability to manage staff effectively.
