Histopathology Specialist

A dynamic and collaborative environment is required for a Consultant Histopathology to join our department of pathology and laboratory medicine.

The selected candidate will be part of a team that serves the diagnostic needs of the country through clinical laboratory services, spanning across the nation. The clinical laboratory is accredited and caters to the entire country's needs through its tertiary lab at the main campus and numerous specimen collection units and stat labs across the country.

The department consists of five major sections: chemical pathology, haematology & transfusion medicine, histopathology, microbiology, and molecular pathology. Each section is academically driven and engaged in research, undergraduate, postgraduate teaching, and training.

The section of histopathology has a state-of-the-art laboratory that accommodates all samples for diagnosis according to international standards. The section provides services for diagnosing neoplastic and non-neoplastic lesions with a vast panel of immunohistochemical stains to aid in accurate diagnoses. The section has a large and experienced faculty with diverse subspecialty interests.

The section trains residents who receive hands-on practical training during routine daily sign-out with consultants.

• Provide accessible and compassionate care to patients in the laboratory setting
• Participate in departmental performance improvement activities
• Demonstrate sound theoretical knowledge of current practice areas and relate it to patient care

• MBBS or equivalent qualification from a reputable institution
• FCPS, FRCPath, American Board, Ph.D., or equivalent qualification
• At least one to two years' experience in a tertiary care hospital after clearing postgraduate examinations
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as a team member
• Ability to work under pressure
• Proficiency in related computer software packages
• Good interpersonal skills and commitment to learning, growth, and self-development
