Regional News Leader

As a Bureau Chief, you will be responsible for overseeing a team of reporters and covering regional and local news stories. Your role will involve presenting stories from the press, as well as news and politics, sports, arts and culture, science, and business.

Covering local events, entertainment, and human interest stories is a key aspect of this position. You will also be required to write stories allocated to you by the news desk.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Conduct interviews with individuals in various circumstances;
  2. Develop and maintain relationships with contacts across different sectors, including police and emergency services, local councils, community groups, health trusts, and the general public;
  3. Research and investigate stories through established contacts, press releases, and other media sources;
  4. Handle incoming phone calls on the news desk and respond promptly to breaking news stories;
  5. Collaborate closely with the news team, photographers, and editors;
  6. Record interviews and meetings using shorthand or technical equipment;
  7. Produce and upload high-quality news content for the radio;
  8. Deliver live online coverage during significant events.
