**Job Title:** Credit Controller

Description

We are seeking an experienced Credit Controller to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing professional, proactive, and effective credit control across the business.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Chase outstanding debts via telephone, email, and letter for payment of invoices that are due/overdue.
  • Ensure that debts are paid in a timely manner.
  • Verify payment remittances against bank accounts to ensure accuracy.
  • Post and allocate daily customer payments, cheques, BACS, and credit cards in accordance with daily timelines.
  • Reconcile and allocate daily payments received on Sage and LE systems.
  • Perform other duties as reasonably required by the Finance Department.

Cash Collection Target:

  • Prioritize all months-end consolidated invoices for payment within 30 days.
  • Maintain contractual terms with customers, ensuring prompt payment within 28-30 days from invoice date.
  • For example, month-end consolidated invoices for March should be paid by May 3rd at the latest.

Credit Control Administration:

  • Assist team members with month-end allocations and report setup for customers.
  • Update customer details accurately, including phone numbers, contact names, email addresses, and postal addresses.
  • Send monthly client statements or letters as agreed upon.
  • Maintain accurate records of all customer interactions.
  • Analyze changes in customer payment patterns to identify potential issues.
  • Resolve allocation discrepancies with customers.
  • Evaluate and escalate accounts not adhering to deadlines and terms.
  • Follow established credit control procedures, including month-end and year-end processes.

Relationship Building:

  • Discuss and reconcile overdue invoices with customers to understand reasons for non-payment and obtain query details.
  • Collaborate with customers to resolve repeated late payments or queries.
  • Work closely with the Contract Management Team to address unpaid debts and escalate matters as necessary.
  • BUILD strong relationships with internal departments to resolve invoicing queries or accounting issues.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office software.
  • Show experience in credit control, customer service, and telephone cash collection.
  • HIGHLIGHT ability to manage and prioritize an extensive caseload.

Qualifications:

  • Possess minimum GCSE C passes in English and Maths or equivalent.
  • Hold a Basic Accountancy Qualification.
