Procurement Officer Job Description

We are seeking an accomplished procurement officer to lead purchasing activities and ensure the acquisition of high-quality products at cost-effective prices. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising staff, maintaining positive supplier relationships, evaluating supply options, approving purchases, and maintaining accurate records.

To succeed in this role, you should have analytical skills, be able to keep up with market trends, and negotiate effectively to ensure all purchases comply with company standards.

The key responsibilities of a procurement officer include:

  • Supervising employees and overseeing purchasing department activities.
  • Developing plans for equipment, service, and supply purchases.
  • Ensuring adherence to company procurement policies and procedures.
  • Reviewing and comparing products and services for purchase.
  • Managing inventories and maintaining accurate purchase and pricing records.
  • Updating supplier information, including qualifications, delivery times, and product ranges.
  • Negotiating contracts and maintaining good supplier relations.
  • Conducting research and evaluating potential suppliers.
  • Preparing budgets, cost analyses, and reports.
Job Specification
  • Degree in Supply Chain Management or related field preferred.
  • At least 2 years of experience as a procurement officer or in a similar position.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and purchasing software.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Good analytical and strategic thinking skills.
