Character Animator Position Overview
">- The role of a Character Animator involves creating high-quality animations for three-dimensional computer graphic characters and objects.
Key Responsibilities:
">- Work closely with the Animation Lead and Supervisor to produce compelling animation that fits within the style and pacing of the film.
- Collaborate with Rigging and Pipeline departments to improve character setup, visual quality, rigs, and tool functionality.
- Animate primary and secondary characters and elements.
- Meet schedules and show deadlines.
- Maintain ongoing communication with Production and Lead regarding schedules and deadlines.
- Support the Lead in mentoring and training more junior artists.
- Work efficiently as part of a team or independently to complete assigned shots.
- Submit shots for review and follow through with notes and feedback if required.
- Stay up-to-date with new tools, software, data, and other related technology.
Requirements:
">- Previous experience in a similar role is essential.
- A thorough knowledge of Maya is necessary.
- Understanding of physical motion, weight, balance, texture, and form is crucial.
- Familiarity with rigs, typical rigging set-ups, animation pipelines, and transferring data between tools is required.
- Proven ability to work under pressure is essential.
- Open to direction and willing to adapt to change.
This position requires a skilled Character Animator to bring our characters and objects to life with motions, gestures, and expressions. As a key member of our animation team, you will work closely with the Animation Lead and Supervisor to produce high-quality animation that meets the demands of high-end VFX films.
