The Business Development Manager role involves enhancing an organization's market position and driving financial growth. This professional defines long-term strategic goals, builds key customer relationships, identifies business opportunities, negotiates deals, and stays up-to-date on current market conditions.
This individual works closely with the internal team, marketing staff, and other managers to increase sales opportunities and maximize revenue for their organization. They must find potential new customers, present solutions that meet their needs, and convert them into clients. Business Development Managers also manage existing clients and ensure they remain satisfied.
Prospecting for new clients through networking, cold calling, advertising, or other means is a crucial part of this job. The manager must then plan persuasive approaches and pitches to convince potential clients to do business with the company. Developing a rapport with new clients, setting sales targets, and providing ongoing support to continually improve the relationship are essential duties.
Key Responsibilities- Manage weekly progress reports and data accuracy.
- Ensure accurate data entry and management within the company's CRM system.
- Forecast sales targets and ensure the team meets these targets.
- Track and record activity on accounts to help close deals.
- Collaborate with marketing staff to fulfill prerequisites in a timely manner.
- Identify and pursue potential new clients to grow business.
- Meet potential clients by growing and leveraging your network.
- Research and build relationships with new clients.
- Set up meetings between client decision makers.
- Plan approaches and pitches to meet client needs.
- Develop proposals that speak to the client's objectives.
- Handle objections by clarifying agreements and working through differences.
- Collaborate with staff to meet customer needs.
- Attend industry functions and provide feedback on market trends.
- Identify opportunities for campaigns and services to drive sales.
- Develop the company's unique selling propositions and differentiators.
- Present business development training to staff.
- Research the company's capabilities and understand its goal and purpose.
