Job Title:

Phlebotomy Professional, Laboratory Operations

About This Role:

This position is responsible for verifying patient identities, performing phlebotomy procedures, and preparing blood components.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Verify patient identification and check donor status through the donor questionnaire to ensure compliance with collection requirements.
  • Perform accurate and gentle vein puncture procedures to collect blood and prepare blood components according to donor phlebotomy requirements.
  • Re-avail blood units into stock after cross match cancellation and maintain records of blood donors' consent forms.
  • Pack samples according to requirement and hand over reports to donors with normal screening results.
  • Shift quarantine components to stock refrigerator and freezer as per laboratory protocols and maintain inventory of blood donor areas.
  • Ensure daily quality control and maintenance of Hemocue instruments.
  • Clean water bath, calibrate blood shakers, and clean cryofuges on a daily basis.
Requirements:
  • Intermediate education or graduate degree preferred.
  • 1-2 years of experience in venipuncture on adults and pediatric patients.
  • Experience as a donor attendant will be an added advantage.
  • Ability to read and write simple English.
  • Knowledge of various collection containers.
  • Good knowledge of venipuncture on adults and pediatric patients.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under stress.
  • Completion of knowledge-based certification and hands-on competency annually.
