Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Tax Manager to join our team. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for ensuring timely, efficient and accurate indirect tax compliance and related accounting and tax advisory, risk management as well as effectively handling tax audits.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation of indirect tax returns (Federal and Provincial authorities) in accordance with relevant laws and regulations.

  • Collaborate with the Unit Head Indirect Taxation to ensure seamless coordination between departments, including Business, BI, Operations, Channels, Technology & other relevant teams.

  • Support the Unit Head Indirect Taxation in coordinating with AP, accounting and IT teams for reporting requirements and information retrieval for tax compliance as well as sourcing for vendor-related tax matters and resolution.

  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of monthly closing procedures in respect of indirect tax compliance (output tax, input tax & sales tax withholdings etc.) and related provisions.

  • Retrieve, review and file information to tax authorities during various tax proceedings from federal and provincial tax authorities and in response to tax notices.

  • Prepare monthly/quarterly reconciliations to identify gaps and prepare necessary adjustments.

  • Perform trend analysis for output tax and underlying revenues, input tax, sales tax withholding and underlying expenses and bookings as well as reconciliations.

  • Timely retrieve and issue sales tax challans and maintain tax records for ease of access.

  • Analyze potential tax issues and raise alarm and provision requirements accordingly.

  • Represent the organization before federal and provincial tax authorities and appellate forums, if needed.

  • Correspond with external tax advisors / legal counsel.

  • Foster good working relationships within Finance and with other departments.

  • Provide weekly, monthly and quarterly reporting of tax issues to the Unit Head.

  • Perform any other tasks assigned by supervisor.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree or ACCA/ICMA/CAF certification.

  • Relevant experience in tax compliance and advisory, preferably 3-4 years.

  • Knowledge of business processes, accounting standards, statutory tax laws or regulations/implications and ERP systems (Oracle).

  • Ability to interpret financial and tax data.
