Cardiothoracic Surgery Resident

The Department of Surgery at a leading institution offers comprehensive and sub-specialty care in various fields, including Cardiothoracic Surgery. We invite applications for the position of Resident Medical Officer (Cardiothoracic Surgery) to join our team of experienced faculty members.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Initial patient assessment, documentation, and follow-up before being seen by a Consultant
  • Prompt attendance to calls from the ER
  • Performing or arranging a quick initial assessment and formulating a management plan for patients in consultation with senior residents or Consultants on call
  • Communicating findings and plans to patients and/or families and concerned ER staff, documenting the process
  • Preparing, assisting/performing under supervision, and documenting operative procedures in the OR
  • Performing procedures independently/under supervision according to competency lists
  • Following up with patients in the recovery room and handing over patients to recovery room personnel
  • Documenting findings and management plans
  • Participating in daily ward rounds with team members and communicating findings, assessments, and plans to Consultants
  • Documenting the above and appropriately communicating with patients, their families, and nursing staff
  • Being available on premises when on call and attending to all patient-related issues in the ER or ward
  • Communicating and documenting patient clinical status changes to senior residents/Consultants and families.
Requirements:
  • MBBS degree from an institution recognized by PMDC
  • One year of internship (house job) training
  • FCPS Part I qualification
  • Knowledge of established and evolving Biomedical, Clinical, Epidemiological, and Behavioural Sciences
  • Ability to perform an initial assessment, including history taking and physical examination
  • Ability to collect relevant and accurate information about patients
  • Knowledge of developing and carrying out good initial patient management plans
