Job Summary

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintenance Tasks: Conduct regular inspections of university buildings, facilities, and equipment to identify maintenance needs. Perform routine tasks such as plumbing repairs, electrical work, HVAC system checks, and minor carpentry.
  • Emergency Response: Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies to address issues and minimize disruptions.
  • Problem-Solving: Diagnose and troubleshoot maintenance issues reported by university staff and students.
  • Collaboration: Coordinate with external contractors and vendors for specialized repairs and services.
  • Record-Keeping: Maintain records of maintenance activities, repairs, and replacements for future reference.
  • Schedule Development: Develop and implement a preventive maintenance schedule for various university assets.
  • Inspections: Carry out scheduled inspections and maintenance activities to prevent equipment breakdowns and ensure optimal performance.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensure that all maintenance activities are carried out in compliance with safety standards and regulations.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential safety hazards and take corrective actions to mitigate risks.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with the Health and Safety team to maintain a safe environment for all occupants.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain an organized inventory of maintenance tools, equipment, and supplies.
  • Procurement: Monitor stock levels and initiate the procurement of necessary items to support maintenance operations.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with other members of the Facilities Management team to coordinate maintenance activities with ongoing university events and operations.
  • Cleanliness and Hygiene: Collaborate with custodial staff to ensure cleanliness and hygiene standards are maintained.
  • Reporting: Prepare regular maintenance reports for management, detailing completed tasks, ongoing projects, and upcoming maintenance activities.
  • Resource Management: Keep accurate records of maintenance expenses, resource utilization, and work orders.
  • Professional Development: Stay updated with best practices, new technologies, and trends in maintenance management.
  • Training: Participate in relevant training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge.
