Senior Software Developer - API Engineering

We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Developer to join our team in API engineering. As a key member of our software development team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and deploying API proxies using Apigee Hybrid and Apigee X.

About the Role

This is a challenging role that requires strong technical skills and experience with full-stack application development. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to implement API proxies, shared flows, and custom policies using JavaScript.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, deploy, and maintain API proxies using Apigee Hybrid and Apigee X.
  • Implement API proxies, shared flows, and custom policies using JavaScript.
  • Ensure secure communication using OAuth2, JWT, mTLS, OKTA, and Basic Auth.
  • Manage API versioning, developer portals, and apply API governance best practices.
  • Familiar with OpenAPI/Swagger specs and API documentation.
  • Understanding of cloud platforms (GCP and AWS) and Kubernetes.
  • Implement traffic management, quotas, and caching strategies using Apigee policies.
  • Participate in CI/CD pipeline setup for API deployments using GitHub Actions.
  • Monitor API performance and apply tuning where necessary.
Requirements
  • 3+ years of relevant IT experience with a Bachelor's degree in a technical field or 5+ years of relevant experience without a degree.
  • 3+ years of experience in full-stack application development (e.g., Java, Python, JavaScript).
  • 1+ year of experience with data structures, algorithms, and data stores.
Preferred Experience
  • 4-6 years in API development and management.
  • Hands-on experience with Apigee Hybrid or Apigee X.
  • Experience managing Apigee in multi-region setups.
  • Strong expertise in REST API standards and design.
  • Proficiency in OAuth2, JWT, TLS/mTLS, and traffic management policies.
  • Good understanding of Kubernetes, YAML, Helm.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS and GCP).
  • Understanding of Apigee components (runtime and management plane).

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder interaction skills.
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams globally.
