Role Overview

  • The Junior Fact-Checker will assist in identifying potentially false or misleading claims circulating online and in the media.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Verify claims and gather supporting evidence through research and fact-checking tools.
  • Write clear and concise weekly articles, ensuring accuracy and accessibility for our audience.
  • Collaborate with senior fact-checkers to contribute to broader organisational goals.
  • Monitor trends and identify misinformation on various social media platforms.

Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree in journalism, communication, or a related field.
  • At least 1 year of journalism or related experience is preferred; experience working at a start-up or dynamic team environment is a plus.
  • Strong command of written and spoken English and Urdu.
  • Ability to produce clear, engaging, and accurate articles.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and tools for monitoring and analysing online content.
  • Nuanced understanding of Pakistan's political and cultural landscape.
