Job Title: Library Assistant

Job Description
  • Assist in the technical processing of books and other library materials, ensuring accurate cataloging and classification.
  • Create metadata for newly acquired books and materials, utilizing a range of tools and techniques to enhance discoverability.
  • Prepare, route, and collect purchase orders for library materials, facilitating efficient inventory management.
  • Perform circulation duties on regular days and weekends, including morning, evening, and night shifts, providing exceptional customer service.
  • Browse and search websites and online stores to verify availability of required books, leveraging technology to streamline research.
  • Assist library patrons in searching for library materials, offering expert guidance and support.
  • Shelf-read designated areas daily, maintaining a high level of organization and tidiness.
  • Scan documents as needed and add scanned content to the Institutional Repository, preserving and making accessible valuable information.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant field or 2 years of relevant experience is desirable.
