Job Role Summary:

A Senior Technical Specialist is required to provide high-level technical support and management of the supercomputing facility. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Linux-based clusters, software installation, and configuration, as well as excellent communication skills.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Cluster Management: Install, configure, and manage Linux-based clusters using open-source tools, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency.
  • User Account Management: Create and manage supercomputer user accounts and group policies, adhering to strict security protocols.
  • Technical Support: Provide advanced technical support to scientific users in utilizing HPC facility, resolving complex issues efficiently.
  • Application Configuration: Configure, install, and troubleshoot scientific applications and workload manager on supercomputer, ensuring seamless integration with existing systems.
  • Node Management: Install, configure, upgrade, and troubleshoot cluster nodes as required, maintaining system stability and uptime.
  • Simulation Support: Support scientific users in running simulations in serial/parallel environment on supercomputer, optimizing computational resources.
  • Performance Monitoring: Monitor performance and troubleshoot problems of supercomputer on a regular basis, implementing corrective actions to prevent downtime.
  • Troubleshooting: Resolve day-to-day problems related to all lab software and supercomputer facility, ensuring minimal disruption to users.
  • Documentation: Prepare and update Supercomputer usage manuals regularly, providing clear guidelines for users.
  • VPN Connectivity: Prepare and update VPN connectivity manuals regularly, ensuring secure access to supercomputer resources.
  • Training and Workshops: Assist in trainings and workshops related to supercomputing facility, enhancing user knowledge and expertise.
  • Data Management: Backup and restore supercomputer data, ensuring business continuity in case of system failure.
  • Software Compatibility: Assess the compatibility of software with supercomputer hardware and OS, recommending alternative solutions when necessary.

Requirements:

  • Strong background in Linux-based clusters, software installation, and configuration.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Familiarity with open-source tools and software applications.
  • Knowledge of scientific computing principles and practices.
