Job Title: Cybersecurity Specialist

This role is a critical position within the organization.

The primary function of this role will be to monitor customer environments for security events, establishing the extent of threats, their business impact, and advising on suitable containment and remediation actions.

  • Key Responsibilities:
    • Manage security event monitoring and incident response ticket queues, triaging as necessary to meet service level agreements
    • Promptly transfer cybersecurity tickets to clients or internal contacts
    • Clearly convey indicators of compromise, isolation, and remediation steps
    • Analyze system, security, and application logs to diagnose faults, identify abnormal behavior, and rule out false positives
    • Effectively utilize End Detection and Response tools to investigate alerts, anomalies, and build accurate timelines related to potential compromises
    • Follow established procedures to investigate, escalate, contain, or eradicate malicious activity
    • Develop and deliver written and oral reports to clients, teammates, and management to aggregate and communicate security information and metrics
    • Provide input and recommendations to improve internal processes and procedures related to SOC duties and responsibilities
    • Participate in threat-hunting activities and other special projects as required

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate timesheets and detailed notes of troubleshooting and client communication
  • Receive mentoring and feedback from peers and others
  • Escalate complex issues to senior resources or other teams when necessary
  • Review tickets with Manager
  • Actively participate in team huddles, meetings, and training sessions
  • Create and update documentation as changes occur or discoveries are made
  • Attend regular training and team meetings as required

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Two years' experience in Information Security or related fields
  • Two or more current security-related industry certifications
  • Experience with SIEM platforms, firewall management, and endpoint detection and response platforms
  • One year or more of experience with EDR solutions, ESGs, vulnerability management, and content filtering
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills; ability to understand and analyze complex issues
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to handle multiple tasks and responsibilities efficiently
  • Preferred certifications: CompTIA Security+, CompTIA CySA+, CCNA, C|EH, SSCP, or equivalent
