Description:

We are seeking a skilled Research and Development Manager to lead our research methodology for crop estimation. As a key member of our team, you will design, implement, and supervise research methodology for crop estimation.

You will contribute to the development of research methodology and strategy, with continuous review based on observations during crop tours. Your expertise in collecting and evaluating primary and secondary data, performing sanity checks on databases and external sources to ensure data consistency, is essential to our success.

Your responsibilities will include estimating cotton areas by collecting data from official sources regularly, visual estimation of area changes for confirmation, farmer interviews, and information gathering from research institutes, seed industry, agricultural departments, etc.

You will also highlight risks to crop estimates by working out various scenarios and assessing their impact on yields and associated probabilities, considering factors like weather, pests, diseases, and input costs or labor changes.

Monitoring weather developments and long-term forecasts to update production estimates is another crucial aspect of this role. You will analyze trends, evaluate behaviors, and draw appropriate conclusions.

A Master's degree in Agriculture (specialization in Agronomy, Agricultural Economics, or Horticulture) is required. Proficient in MS Office, strong analytical skills, and business presentation skills in English (written and spoken) are necessary.

Willingness to travel regularly for crop tours and supervision of crop estimation methodology implementation is essential. Preferably from an agricultural family background; Punjabi language skills are a plus. Minimum 4+ years of relevant experience with the appropriate skill set is required.
