**Job Title:** Social Support Specialist

Job Summary:

The Roving Social Support Specialist provides vital support to the case management team through identifying individuals in need of mental health and psychosocial services, referring clients to appropriate centers, integrating services into selected primary healthcare centers, and conducting awareness sessions and home visits.

To succeed in this role, an individual must be able to perform each essential function with or without reasonable accommodation:

  • Identify families or individuals requiring psychosocial support or counseling through outreach activities and home visits to refugees and host communities.
  • Provide accurate referrals when needed, including referrals to supported PHCCs, local NGOs, and INGOs. The specialist will also disseminate information about various programs and services offered by IMC affiliates.
  • Coordinate the management of mental health referrals between community-based mental health care centers and mhGAP-supported primary healthcare centers or IMC MHPSS/health supported PHCCs.
  • Promote the integration of mental health into primary healthcare at PHCs.
  • Conduct awareness sessions on Mental Health topics and provide reports on awareness raising and other PSS services containing information regarding attendance, age, gender, nationality, and impact on participants.
  • Provide psychoeducation sessions for MHPSS clients and their respective families.
  • Conduct interviews with service users (Refugees and host population) and their families to assess and review their situation and provide advice and referral as necessary.
  • Complete intake assessments, evaluations, treatment recommendations, reviews, and other documentation as necessary.
  • Conduct home visits to clients when needed.
  • Work closely with the MHPSS manager to support case management teams in implementing MHPSS activities.
  • Prioritize trainings and team meetings as required by the direct supervisor.
  • Be well-integrated in the local community and have a good knowledge about the area, region, and its population.
  • Build close relationships with all active organizations in the area of operations and maintain constant relationships.
  • Responsible for filling all relevant tools and maintain regular updates in close coordination with the case management team.
