About the Role

A leading US-based company is looking for an experienced Backend Lead to join its Karachi office. The ideal candidate should be passionate about backend architecture, performance optimization, and leading agile development teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Owning backend architecture, mentoring the engineering team, and driving backend innovation across projects.
  • Designing and maintaining scalable, secure, and high-performance APIs and backend services.
  • Establishing and enforcing coding standards, development best practices, and team workflows.
  • Collaborating with frontend, DevOps, and product teams to deliver end-to-end features.
  • Conducting code reviews, performance tuning, and refactoring for reliability and scalability.
  • Architecting microservices and handling system integrations efficiently.
  • Ensuring system uptime, security, and stability in a production environment.
  • Mentoring and coaching junior engineers to enhance their technical and professional growth.
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • 7+ years of backend development experience, with at least 3 years in Node.js.
  • Strong understanding of asynchronous programming, RESTful APIs, and event-driven architecture.
  • Experience with Express.js, NestJS, or similar frameworks.
  • Deep knowledge of databases (MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Redis, etc.).
  • Experience with containerized deployments (Docker) and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, EKS) and scalable backend architecture.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with GraphQL, message queues (RabbitMQ, Kafka), and caching strategies.
  • Background in fintech or stock/crypto market platforms.
  • Knowledge of test automation and secure coding practices.
