Programme Implementation Specialist

The role of the Project Officer reports to the Representative in Pakistan and works closely with other units and teams in Pakistan. The officer receives technical guidance from the Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific (RAP) and relevant units at FAO headquarters.
Key Responsibilities- Provides leadership on the development, implementation, and evaluation of assigned projects; assists in the review of relevant documents and reports.
- Coordinates project activities and reviews assessments of issues and trends for the implementation of projects and the preparation of impact evaluations or equivalent studies.
- Supervises the preparation of various written outputs, e.g. background papers, analyses, substantial sections of reports and studies, inputs to publications.
- Contributes to consultative meetings, conferences, including proposals for agenda topics, identifying participants, preparation of documents and presentations.
- Advanced university degree in business administration, agricultural economics, development economics, rural sociology, food security, nutrition, or a related field.
- Seven years of relevant experience in project management, administration, technical cooperation's activities, policy advice and analysis relating to food and nutrition security, agriculture and rural development, monitoring and evaluation of policies and projects.
- Working knowledge of English and intermediate knowledge of one of the other FAO official languages.
- Work experience in more than one location is desirable.
- Extent and relevance of experience in programme coordination, operations, and management.
- Understanding of FAO policies and programmes is considered an asset.
The successful candidate will have excellent communication and team working skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.
