Electrical Procurement Specialist

Job Overview

The Electrical Procurement Specialist plays a pivotal role in supporting the electrical engineering team by ensuring technical compatibility, cost efficiency, and compliance with industry standards for project materials, components, and vendors. This position collaborates with internal teams and procurement specialists to optimize sourcing strategies.

Key Responsibilities

1. Assist the Electrical Design Team in creating assembly drawings for complete equipment schedules to reduce processing time for equipment take-offs using Esticom software.
2. Coordinate with Procurement for regular updates to Procore cost catalogs and assemblies.
3. Optimize and standardize electrical component selection to balance cost, performance, and availability.
4. Review Esticom take-offs and generate complete BOMs and BOQs for projects.
5. Evaluate suppliers based on technical compliance, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
6. Review vendor technical documentation, material specifications, and certifications.
7. Implement AI-powered tools for process improvement, automation, and standardization.
8. Ensure selected components and materials meet engineering design and project needs.
9. Provide technical justifications for supplier selection to Engineering and Procurement teams.
10. Collaborate with the Value Engineering team to identify cost-saving opportunities in sourcing.
11. Recommend alternative materials or vendors that meet or exceed project specifications.
12. Ensure procured components meet industry standards, project specifications, and safety regulations.
13. Conduct technical assessments of materials for long-term reliability and compatibility.
14. Resolve supplier-related technical issues with relevant teams.
15. Liaise between Engineering, Procurement, and Suppliers to streamline technical approvals.
16. Provide detailed technical reports, supplier evaluations, and recommendations to the Electrical Engineering Manager.
17. Support the team in resolving supply chain constraints that impact design and execution.
18. Collaborate with project development, procurement, project management, construction, and O&M teams.
19. Research and develop recommendations on equipment and materials selection.
20. Maintain a culture of continuous improvement and problem-solving.
21. Have a high degree of familiarity with the National Electric Code regarding PV Solar Systems.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Supply Chain Management from an accredited university.
• 5+ years of experience in electrical design, procurement, supply chain, or vendor evaluation within the electrical industry.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and related Autodesk software, as well as experience with ERP systems (SAP, Procore, Oracle, etc.).
• Knowledge of AI-driven procurement technologies or experience working with data-driven decision-making tools.
• Demonstrated electrical, structural, and mechanical design skills, and the ability to accurately read highly detailed construction drawings.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
