Hospital Chief Operating Officer

Overview

This key role involves overseeing the operational strategy of a hospital to deliver high-quality healthcare services and achieve financial sustainability.

Main Responsibilities
  1. To develop and execute a comprehensive operational plan for the hospital that provides exceptional patient care and drives growth in outpatient and inpatient services.
  2. To ensure seamless hospital operations by providing necessary guidelines to the hospital team.
  3. To prepare proposals with estimates for new projects, including construction, renovation, general repair, and maintenance, as defined in the hospital's strategic plan.
  4. To participate in strategic planning under the leadership of the CEO.
  5. To ensure the availability of skilled human resources based on workload and healthcare standards within approved guidelines and supervise staff training and development.
  6. To execute the CEO's initiatives for transforming hospital culture, encouraging positivity, supporting others, sharing knowledge, taking responsibilities, flexibility for change, empowerment, and delivering excellent patient-centered care.
  7. To collaborate with communities, educational institutes, and NGOs for healthcare awareness campaigns and arranging medical campuses to attract patients.
  8. To provide leadership support to the Manager Operations to ensure best facility management, ambulance services, transport, hostels, and cafeteria services for patients and staff.
  9. To ensure execution of preventive maintenance plans for biomedical equipment to guarantee smooth functioning.
  10. To manage supply chain processes effectively for Medical Non-Medical items to ensure smooth hospital department functioning.
  11. To participate in budget planning and facilitate the CEO in obtaining approval for the operating budget for the financial year.
  12. To ensure hospital finances are managed within budget guidelines and comply with financial policies and laws.
  13. To achieve revenue and profitability targets through high-quality healthcare services and monitor progress weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly.
  14. To deliver cost-effective healthcare services through process improvement, effective purchasing, and optimal resource utilization within budget parameters.
  15. To implement technology integration and hospital operations (Clinical/Non-Clinical) via HIMS/SAP.
  16. To deliver best medical and nursing care to patients and plan rounds for OPD, wards, OT, pharmacy, and lab for consistent monitoring and improving healthcare services.
  17. To execute marketing strategies to promote hospital services, focusing on social media to achieve revenue targets with consistent growth in panels and cash patients.
  18. To implement ISO 9001:2015 quality standards and ensure periodic audits achieve highest scores with no deviations.
  19. To establish operational plans for best quality healthcare services, ensuring outstanding patient experience in outpatient and inpatient services.
  20. To administer quality documentation, manage quality audits, and implement audit points with coordination from Directorate TQM.
  21. To execute quality undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programs according to PMDC/CPSP guidelines.
  22. To implement Continuous Medical Education Programs with mandatory training hours for medical and nursing staff, measuring its impact on patient care.
  23. To implement the Riphah Mission and Islamic Ethical Values in true spirit for staff at Teaching Hospitals by developing and monitoring mechanisms reflecting these values in every course of action and behavior.
