Job Summary

We are currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced Lecturer in Optometry/Orthoptics to join our team. As a key member of our faculty, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching and learning experiences for our students.

Main Responsibilities
  1. Develop and Deliver Courses: Teach assigned courses as per faculty workload policy, employing innovative teaching strategies and facilitating experiential learning during lessons.
  2. Supervise Student Projects: Supervise student projects, field trips, and placements, ensuring that students develop essential skills and knowledge.
  3. Assess Student Performance: Set, mark, and assess work and examinations, providing timely and constructive feedback to students.
  4. Contribute to Departmental Activities: Participate in departmental and university committees as required, contributing to the planning of teaching programs and the development of the curriculum.
  5. Engage in Scholarly Activity: Engage in independent research and act as principal investigator and project leader, publishing scholarly articles and presenting research findings at conferences.
Requirements
  • Doctoral Degree: A PhD in Optometry or Orthoptics, or a closely related field.
  • Teaching Experience: Proven experience in teaching and mentoring students at the undergraduate level.
  • Research Background: A strong background in research, with a track record of publishing scholarly articles.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to link and inculcate Islamic and ethical values in teaching.
