Supply Chain Manager

The supply chain involves the transfer of goods and materials from manufacturers and suppliers through to retail outlets and ultimately customers. This branch of the retail sector is also known as logistics or distribution.

As a supply chain manager, you will be responsible for planning and organizing the entire process. This includes:

  1. Developing and implementing efficient delivery timetables
  2. Monitoring stock levels using computer databases to ensure timely replenishment
  3. Tracking the movement of goods through depots to optimize inventory turnover
  4. Overseeing the ordering and packaging process ready for dispatch and the arrival of shipments
  5. Monitoring performance and ensuring targets are met through effective team management
  6. Identifying opportunities to improve the supply network and reducing costs
  7. Managing clerical, administrative, and warehouse distribution staff to ensure smooth operations

You will work closely with purchasing officers, warehouse staff, and transport clerks to ensure that goods and materials arrive at the depot as scheduled, are in good order, stored correctly, and dispatched to customers on time.
