We are seeking seasoned engineers who are passionate about building features that they and their peers will love.

The Managed Databases Team builds and runs the services and infrastructure for our DBaaS product. We handle the full lifecycle of Managed Databases from APIs which let users create and manage their databases to software that automates the running, upgrading, and health of databases.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Database Product Development: Develop external customer-facing Managed Database products such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, Caching, Kafka, OpenSearch, and MongoDB.
  • Technical Expertise: Act as a subject matter expert on MySQL and PostgreSQL, providing guidance on performance optimizations and administrative issues.
  • Distributed Systems: Develop and maintain distributed systems in a Kubernetes environment that is globally distributed.
  • Technical Design: Author and give feedback on technical designs.
  • API Development: Develop APIs with Go.
  • Mentorship: Mentor other engineers on best practices and perform code reviews.
  • Support: Provide last-line support for DBaaS products.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with agile, self-managed teams of peers across other products including engineers, product managers, designers, and more.
Requirements:
  • Experience: 8+ years of experience working in fast-paced, agile product development environments.
  • DB Expertise: 5+ years of experience working as a subject-matter expert with PostgreSQL and/or MySQL databases.
  • Microservices: Strong knowledge of microservices using container workload engines and frameworks such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Distributed Systems: A track record of building and maintaining large distributed systems.
  • Concurrency: Experience with concurrency patterns in Go.
  • CI/CD: Experience with CI/CD pipelines and frameworks.
  • Database Knowledge: A strong background and exposure to different databases, both SQL and NoSQL paradigms.
  • Message Bus: Familiarity with prevalent message bus and queuing technologies.
  • Collaboration: Passion for collaborating directly with customers to discover their jobs to be done, and developing simple delightful solutions to solve those jobs.
  • Communication: Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate and demonstrate empathy with key stakeholders, both spoken and written.
