Job Title:

We are seeking a seasoned legal professional to lead corporate legal matters. The ideal candidate will have at least 11 years of relevant experience and 4 years of bar enrollment.

About the Role:

  1. Ensure agreements serve the company's interests by reviewing contracts and agreements, highlighting potentially detrimental terms, and suggesting modifications.
  2. Review amendments to laws, rules, and regulations from federal, provincial, and statutory bodies; evaluate their impact on operations and contracts.
  3. Study drafts of impending legislation and assist in evaluating their probable effects on the organization.
  4. Coordinate with departments to resolve legal issues related to contract drafting, execution, or other legal matters.
  5. Prepare and review draft contracts, MoUs, and non-disclosure agreements related to commercial transactions.
  6. Provide feedback on tenancy and lease agreements to relevant departments.
  7. Analyze court decisions on legal issues, evaluate their impact on the organization, and discuss options with superiors.
  8. Coordinate with external law firms for specialized legal opinions and ensure legal requirements are addressed.
  9. Negotiate gas sale agreements with exploration & production companies, ensuring legal aspects are covered.
  10. Offer legal opinions and guidance on issues raised by user departments.
  11. Represent the organization in government and legal forums, including standing committees and ministries, on legislative matters.
  12. Assist legal counsel in managing lawsuits involving the organization and attend court hearings as appropriate.

Requirements:

  • At least 11 years of relevant experience.
  • 4 years of bar enrollment.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
