About the Job

As an MEP Design Engineer, you will be responsible for creating detailed designs and specifications for various building systems, including heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), electrical, plumbing, and fire protection.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Develop MEP designs that integrate seamlessly with overall building plans by collaborating with architects, structural engineers, and other stakeholders. This involves conceptualizing, planning, and creating detailed drawings and schematics for MEP systems.
  2. Conduct thorough analysis and calculations to ensure that MEP designs meet performance criteria such as thermal comfort, indoor air quality, lighting levels, water supply, and drainage requirements. Utilize software tools and simulations to optimize system performance.
  3. Ensure that designs comply with all applicable building codes, regulations, and industry standards related to MEP systems. Obtain necessary permits and approvals from regulatory authorities.
  4. Integrate sustainable design principles and energy-efficient technologies into MEP systems to minimize environmental impact and operating costs. Evaluate renewable energy sources, energy recovery systems, and efficient equipment selection.
  5. Prepare cost estimates and budgets for MEP systems, considering factors such as material costs, labor expenses, and ongoing maintenance requirements. Work closely with project managers to ensure that designs align with budgetary constraints.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Master's degree or professional certification is desirable.
  • Proven experience (typically 3-5 years) in MEP design and engineering within the construction industry.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit) and MEP design tools. Experience with simulation software (e.g., EnergyPlus, TRACE 700) is desirable.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with the capacity to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of sustainable design practices, building codes, and industry standards.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectively.
