The Category Planning Specialist plays a vital role in ensuring the success of our product categories.
- Responsibilities include planning product ranges, preparing sales and stock plans in conjunction with buyers, and maintaining a comprehensive library of appropriate data.
- The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise with buyers, analysts, stores, suppliers and distributors.
Key tasks include producing layout plans for stores, forecasting profits and sales, and optimising the sales volume and profitability of designated product areas.
Ongoing analysis includes controlling stock levels based on forecasts for the season, using specialist computer software to handle sales statistics, produce sales projections and present spreadsheets and graphs, and analysing every aspect of bestsellers and monitoring slow sellers.
The Category Planning Specialist will also be responsible for gathering information on customers' reactions to products, making financial presentations to senior managers, and accompanying buyers on visits to manufacturers to appreciate production processes.
A strong understanding of production processes and supply chain management is required, as well as the ability to manage junior staff and provide training and supervision where necessary.

- Identifying production and supply difficulties and dealing with any problems or delays as they arise.
- Managing, training and supervising junior staff.
