Job Summary

This role requires a skilled professional to oversee infection prevention and control measures in a healthcare setting. The ideal candidate will have a graduate degree in a related field and at least 2-3 years of experience in a leadership role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Surveillance and Analysis: Monitor, analyze, and report hospital-acquired infections (HAIs) to ensure patient safety.
  • Data Collection: Gather data related to Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) as per the scope of service of the Department of Infection Prevention & Hospital Epidemiology (DIPHE).
  • Infection Prevention and Control Activities: Perform IPC-related activities, rounds, and audits to assess compliance with policies and guidelines.
  • Education and Training: Assess learning needs of staff and conduct education sessions to train employees on IPC practices.
  • Outbreak Investigation: Identify and assist in investigating outbreaks of hospital-acquired infections.
  • Reporting and Coordination: Release daily infected and isolated patient reports to hospital leaders and coordinate with NES, PGME, and relevant departments for IPC-related activities.
  • Surveillance of Device-Associated Infections: Conduct surveillance of device-associated infections, such as CAUTI, CLABSI, VAP/VAE, and Phlebitis, and report as dashboard indicators.
  • Critical Care Committees: Attend critical care committees to present infection data to clinical leaders and area leaders.
  • Implementation of Infection Control Surveillance System: Implement the infection control surveillance system based on CDC/WHO or international best practice guidelines.
Requirements
  • A Graduate degree or equivalent qualification in a related field.
  • Professional Certification in a relevant field is an added advantage.
  • Minimum 2-3 years of post-graduate experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in a leadership role.
  • Excellent management, leadership, time management, and communication skills.
  • Ability to think critically and make informed decisions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Good time management and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changing situations and priorities.
