Rural Surgeon Leadership Opportunity

Aga Khan University invites applications for a clinical training program in rural surgery. The program aims to develop community surgeons proficient in emergency surgical procedures, improving accessible and quality surgical care in resource-constrained environments.

The Center of Global Surgical Care has established this training program to address the need for skilled surgeons in lower-middle-income countries. You will be responsible for participating in the care of various essential and emergency surgical problems, following patients appropriately during inpatient care, and engaging in leadership skills development and experiential learning by providing surgical care in lower-middle-income countries.

To be eligible, you should have completed a surgery training program (minimum duration of 4 years) and be eligible for FCPS Part II or an equivalent international certifying examination. Prior experience of working in a rural area is desirable.

Requirements and Responsibilities:

  • Completed a surgery training program and eligibility for FCPS Part II or an equivalent international certification
  • Appropriate credentials as a general surgeon, including but not limited to FCPS, FRCS, or ABS certification
  • Prior experience working in a rural area (desirable)
