Job Summary:

This role oversees the administrative, financial, and risk management operations of the organization. The Senior Financial Strategist will develop a financial and operational strategy, along with metrics tied to that strategy, and ongoing development and monitoring of control systems designed to preserve assets and report accurate financial results.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Formulate the company's future direction and support tactical initiatives
  2. Implement strategic business plans
  3. Develop financial and tax strategies
  4. Manage capital requests and budgeting processes
  5. Establish performance measures aligned with the company's strategic direction

Operational Oversight:

  1. Participate in executive management team decisions
  2. Maintain strong relationships with all members of the management team
  3. Lead the accounting, human resources, investor relations, legal, tax, and treasury departments
  4. Oversee financial operations of subsidiary companies and foreign entities
  5. Manage third-party functions outsourced by the organization
  6. Monitor transaction processing systems
  7. Implement operational best practices
  8. Oversee employee benefit plans, focusing on cost-effective benefits
  9. Solicit acquisition due diligence and negotiate acquisitions

Financial Reporting:

  1. Ensure timely issuance of financial information
  2. Personally review and approve SEC filings (8-K, 10-K, 10-Q)
  3. Report financial results to the board of directors

Risk Management:

  1. Understand and mitigate key elements of the organization's risk profile
  2. Monitor open legal issues affecting the organization and industry
  3. Establish and monitor reliable control systems
  4. Maintain adequate insurance coverage
  5. Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations
  6. Verify record keeping meets auditor and government requirements
  7. Notify the audit committee of risk issues
  8. Maintain relationships with external auditors and address their findings

Cash and Funding:

  1. Monitor cash balances and forecasts
  2. Negotiate debt and equity financing arrangements
  3. Invest funds as needed
  4. Invest pension funds wisely

External Representation:

  1. Participate in conference calls with the investment community
  2. Maintain banking relationships
  3. Represent the organization to investment bankers and investors
