High-End Character Animation Specialist

As a Character Animation Specialist, you will play a vital role in bringing characters to life for high-end VFX films and episodic productions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work closely with the Animation Lead and Supervisor to create high-quality animation that enhances the story and action within the film.
  • Collaborate with the Rigging and Pipeline departments to improve character setup, visual quality, rigs, and tool functionality.
  • Animate primary and secondary characters and elements, meeting schedules and show deadlines.
  • Maintain open communication with Production and Lead regarding schedules and deadlines.
  • SUPPORT THE LEAD IN MENTORING AND TRAINING OF MORE JUNIOR ARTISTS.
  • Work efficiently as part of a team or independently to complete assigned shots.
  • Submit shots for review and follow through with notes and feedback if required.
Requirements
  • Previous experience in a similar role.
  • A thorough knowledge of Maya.
  • Understanding of physical motion, weight, balance, texture, and form.
  • Knowledge of rigs and typical rigging set-ups, animation pipelines, and transferring data between tools.
  • Proven ability to work under pressure.
  • Open to direction and able to adapt to change.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Reliable, with good time keeping and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent organisation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrable commitment to creative collaboration within a team and with other departments.
  • Adaptability and willingness to learn new processes and technical skills.
  • Working knowledge of Modeling, Rigging, and Mel/Python scripting.
  • Knowledge of human and animal anatomy as well as life drawing skills.
