Our naive data pipeline implementations have reached their expiration date, yet we continue to have ambitious roadmaps that will improve the lives of students all over the world. We need someone who can lead us into the future by driving upgrades to our data pipelines while up-leveling our engineering team's ability to delight users with new capabilities.

• Work closely with founders and product managers to understand the reasoning behind each capability in the platform.
• Help drive alignment on prioritizing engineering-driven priorities alongside product priorities.
• Be a key decision-maker in selecting forward-looking front-end architecture and technology stack.
• Develop a strategy for iteratively migrating legacy front-end to new front-end architecture.
• Design and lead implementation of scalable, full-stack solutions for mission-critical enterprise applications.
• Identify and introduce abstractions to increase performance and reliability of systems.
• Up-level general engineering rigor and maturity by mentoring other engineers in best practices, design patterns, and code quality.
• Ensure high-quality solutions by designing robust testing strategies and implementing suites of reliable tests.

Requirements

• 3-5 years of experience as a frontend engineer working at scale.
• Strong ownership mindset and ability to autonomously lead and drive complex implementations.
• Deep curiosity, customer empathy, and commitment to engineering as a craft.
• Ability to plan, estimate, and manage technical aspects of project execution and delivery.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to mentor junior developers.
• Impeccable communication skills for collaborating with product, design, and customer-facing teams.

What We Need From You

• Mid-level skills working with modern web technologies (HTML, CSS, WebSockets).
• Experience with front-stack engineering using TypeScript, JavaScript, and modern front-end frameworks.
• A proven track-record of building world-class end-user-facing product experiences.
• A solid foundational understanding of working with designers on design systems as well as authoring and maintaining shared components.
• Experience delivering high-performance, low-latency front-end solutions across multiple regions at the edge using modern CDNs.
• Experience working with front-end analytics and experimentation frameworks.
• Strong background in API design, documentation, and versioning strategies.
• Solid understanding of software testing, CI/CD practices, observability.
