Tech-Savvy Network Specialist

The IT Infrastructure Engineer will be responsible for administering, maintaining, and supporting all systems, including network infrastructure. This includes day-to-day support, incident, change, and problem management.

• Deploy, support, and administer IT services and systems, voice and data networks, MPLS, DPLC & wireless networks. Monitor and maintain layer 1-7 and end-to-end support.
• Design new network solutions or improve the efficiency of current networks.
• Install, configure, and support network equipment including routers, switches, SASE gateways, firewalls, WAN accelerators, and aggregators, wireless networks.
• Work on escalated incidents from the service desk and ensure that incidents are updated daily with meaningful updates, quality troubleshooting steps performed. Ensure that incidents are resolved within set SLAs.
• Be responsible for changes affecting the IT infrastructure and ensure such changes take place in a controlled and auditable manner.
• Continuously improve the infrastructure and manage projects.
• Stay up to date with latest technology changes and industry practices.
• Document the network infrastructure (HW/SW inventory, network documentations, etc.).
• Manage incidents to ensure rapid resolution.
• Perform root cause analysis. Explore all avenues to resolve incidents.

Administration:

• Monitor and report on IT infrastructure and underlying network services.
• Provide second-line support and escalation services.
• Resolve production incidents and underlying causes.
• Accept new systems or changes as fit for release.
• Conduct service reviews with internal teams and suppliers.
• Liaise with third-party suppliers.
• Ensure rapid incident resolution, including root cause analysis.
• Send necessary communication to relevant parties.
• Weigh possible solutions against risk.
• Complete follow-up actions.
• Design and review network changes.
• Track and resolve single points of failure within the infrastructure.
• Assist project streams on infrastructure changes.

Communication:

• Effectively communicate project information to superiors.
• Deliver engaging, informative presentations.
• Resolve or escalate issues in a timely fashion.
• Communicate difficult or sensitive information tactfully.

Technical Knowledge:

• Have knowledge and experience of Datacenter management, Unified communication family suites, LANs, WANs, Wireless Networks, Virtualization, strong understanding TCP/IP protocol stack and network layer, Routing, Switching, MPLS networks, Firewalls, SASE networks, VPN technologies, system monitoring and management.
• Exposure to VMware ESX and vCenter 4.x and major virtualization infrastructure solutions. Exposure to Open Source technologies including Linux and VoIP telephony systems, and strong understanding of voice infrastructures.
• IT security tools and techniques, Good working Knowledge of Information Governance and its application within IT. Possesses general understanding in areas of application programming, database and system design.
• Prior Applications Integration experience; Software as a service Integration

• Degree in computer science or similar discipline.

Experience:

• Minimum 3 years experience in similar capacity working as IT Infrastructure Engineer, Systems or network Administrator for organization with minimum 1000+ users.
