Fortinet Security Specialist Role:

This position plays a critical role in ensuring the security and integrity of an organization's information systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for safeguarding against potential and actual security threats, protecting system resources, and implementing security improvements.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Identify and resolve potential and actual security problems
  2. Define access privileges, control structures, and resources to protect the system
  3. Recognize problems by identifying abnormalities and reporting violations
  4. Assess current situation, evaluate trends, and anticipate requirements to implement security improvements
  5. Conduct periodic audits to determine security violations and inefficiencies
  6. Implement and maintain security controls to upgrade the system
  7. Prepare performance reports and communicate system status to keep users and customers informed
  8. Follow organization standards to maintain quality service
  9. Attend educational workshops and review publications to maintain technical knowledge
  10. Achieve related results as needed to contribute to the team effort
  11. Perform troubleshooting on active accounts
  12. Utilize knowledge of FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer and FortiPortal

Essential Qualifications:

  1. Be an active member of a 24x7 team of Fortinet security specialists
  2. Possess system administration skills
  3. Have network security expertise
  4. Excel in problem-solving
  5. Understand information security policies
  6. Have on-call network troubleshooting capabilities
  7. Administer firewalls effectively
  8. Know network protocols

Requirements for Success:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent education or work experience
  2. 2+ years of experience in designing, configuring, implementing, monitoring, and resolving issues on FortiNet FortiGuard security appliances
  3. Hold advanced FortiNet security certifications
  4. Possess industry certifications such as SANS GIAC/GCIA/GCIH, Security+ CE, CISSP or CASP
  5. Have advanced understanding of TCP/IP, common networking ports and protocols, traffic flow, system administration, OSI model, defense-in-depth and common security elements
  6. Analyze high volumes of logs, network data (e.g. Netflow, FPC), and other attack artifacts in support of incident investigations
  7. Experience with vulnerability scanning solutions
