The School Accountant plays a crucial role in ensuring the financial integrity of our school. This position requires strong organizational and analytical skills, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The Accountant will be responsible for managing the school's financial activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger.

Responsibilities:
  1. Maintain accurate and complete financial records to ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
  2. Reconcile bank statements, credit card statements, and other financial documents to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  3. Prepare and submit financial reports to school leadership and other stakeholders as required.
  4. Assist with budget preparation and monitoring, including tracking expenses and revenue, and making recommendations for cost-saving measures.
  5. Work with staff to ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures related to financial matters.
  6. Assist with audit preparations, including providing support during external audits.
  7. Manage cash flow and prepare cash forecasts to ensure the school has adequate funds to meet its financial obligations.
  8. Monitor and reconcile all school-related financial transactions to ensure they are properly recorded and documented.
  9. Assist with grant applications and reports, as required.
Requirements:Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field.
  2. CPA or equivalent professional certification preferred.
  3. A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in accounting or finance, preferably in a school or nonprofit setting.
  4. Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and nonprofit accounting standards.
  5. Proficiency in accounting software, such as Excel or similar programs.
  6. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with keen attention to detail.
  7. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with others.
  8. Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  9. Commitment to the school's mission and values.
Duties:
  1. Record financial transactions, including incoming payments, outgoing payments, and other transactions.
  2. Process invoices and payments, ensuring timely payment to vendors.
  3. Manage accounts receivable, following up on outstanding invoices and tracking payment receipts.
  4. Reconcile accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records.
  5. Prepare financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
  6. Assist with budgeting and provide support for audits.
  7. Prepare grant applications and reports as required.
