Job Overview

As a skilled Piping Designer/Draftsman, you will play a vital role in creating detailed piping layout drawings, isometric drawings, and pipe support drawings using advanced software tools such as AutoCAD, CADWorx, and Plant 3D.

This position requires a strong understanding of piping materials, fittings, valves, and fabrication practices. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Prepare detailed piping layout drawings, isometric drawings, and pipe support drawings using AutoCAD, CADWorx, Plant 3D, or similar software.
  2. Develop and update P&IDs, plot plans, general arrangements (GAs), and fabrication drawings.
  3. Coordinate with mechanical, civil, electrical, and process teams to ensure alignment and clash-free design.
  4. Interpret engineering specifications, piping material specifications (PMS), and vendor drawings.
  5. Participate in design reviews, model walk-throughs, and site surveys as required.
  6. Ensure compliance with relevant industry codes and standards (ASME, ANSI, API, etc.).
  7. Generate material take-offs (MTOs) and assist with procurement documentation.
  8. Implement design changes and revisions as per project requirements and mark-ups.
  9. Maintain documentation and revision control in line with company standards and QA/QC procedures.
Requirements
  • Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 5–10 years of hands-on experience in piping design and drafting, preferably in oil & gas, petrochemical, etc.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Plant 3D, CADWorx, PDMS, SP3D, or other 2D/3D modeling tools.
  • Familiarity with ASME B31.1/B31.3, ISO, ANSI, and other piping codes.
  • Experience with BIM coordination and clash detection tools (e.g., Navisworks) is an advantage.
