Early Childhood Support Specialist

The role of the Early Childhood Assistant is crucial in creating a nurturing and stimulating environment for children aged 5 years. This individual works closely with experienced Early Childhood Educators to implement daily classroom activities, meal routines, hygiene, and developmental play.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in planning and implementing age-appropriate learning activities and play-based curriculum, promoting cognitive development and fostering curiosity.
  • Support children's personal needs, including feeding, diapering, and toileting, ensuring their physical well-being.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy environment during indoor and outdoor play, adhering to all center policies and health and safety protocols.
  • Help maintain a clean, organized, and inviting classroom environment, encouraging exploration and creativity.
  • Develop positive relationships with children, families, and team members, facilitating open communication and mutual respect.
  • Observe and document children's behavior and development under the direction of the Lead Educator, providing valuable insights for future planning.
  • Communicate effectively with parents regarding daily routines and general progress, keeping them informed and involved.
  • Offer emotional support and guidance to children, helping them build confidence and self-esteem.


Qualifications:

  • A High School Diploma or equivalent; completion of an Early Childhood Assistant certificate or equivalent training is preferred.
  • First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain), demonstrating commitment to child safety.
  • Previous experience working with young children in a childcare or preschool setting is an asset, showcasing knowledge and skills.
  • Familiarity with early childhood development principles, ensuring a deep understanding of child growth and development.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, allowing effective collaboration with colleagues and families.
  • Patience, creativity, and a genuine love for working with children, making a positive impact on their lives.
