Job Description

We are seeking a skilled professional to fill the role of Agricultural Research Analyst. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for analyzing and interpreting data related to agricultural commodities.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Crop Estimation: Implement and supervise agreed research methodology for crop estimation, export/import, and demand of Made-ups of textile industry.
  • Data Analysis: Regularly update and maintain databases/time series data and contribute to the development of the research methodology and strategy.
  • Methodology Review: Continuously review the methodology being applied in view of observations made during crop tours, difference surveys, etc.
  • Data Collection: Collect and evaluate primary and secondary data and perform sanity checks on databases and external sources to ensure consistency of data.
  • Automation Tools: Create automation tools using macros, power pivot in MS Excel Power BI, and Python coding to make the task of updating data swift and efficient.
  • Cotton Production Estimates: Estimate cotton and production areas by collecting data from official sources regularly, confirmation of area estimates through visual estimation of area changes, farmer interviews, and gathering information from third parties like research institutes, state farms, etc.
  • Supply and Demand Analysis: Estimate supply and demand of entire cotton textile value chain, such as upstream and downstream of cotton industry, and track all data like Govt. Crops estimate, export, import, financial reports of Public textile industry, trade data prices, etc.
  • Risk Assessment: Highlight the risks to the Supply & Demand of crops, upstream and downstream public textile crop estimate by working out various scenarios and assessing the impact of various scenarios on yields and associated probabilities like weather, pests, diseases, and changing costs or supply of inputs or labor, etc.
  • Surveys and Reconciliation: Conducting Gin, Mills & Farmers surveys and Balance Sheet reconciliation.
  • Databases Creation: Creating comprehensive and user-friendly databases for cotton supply and demand estimates.
  • Survey Coordination: Coordinate with Agronomists/regional teams for pressing surveys.

Experience:

  • Bachelor's/Master's in Maths & Economics/Statistics/Agricultural statistics/Agri Business.
  • 2-3 years' experience with the right skill sets. Fresh graduates with the right skill set are also encouraged to apply.
  • Agri Commodities experience (preferable).

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong data analytical and problem-solving skills of big data sets.
  • Working knowledge in Advance Excel & Power BI (must have).
  • SQL and basic knowledge of Python (coding, to be able to correct errors while running python report. Preference).
  • Willing to travel upcountry on tour whenever required.
  • Open to learn new skills and with an interest in agriculture field.
  • Business proficiency in English and good communication in Urdu.
  • Punjabi & Sindhi proficiency is a plus.
