The role of a Safety Coordinator is critical in ensuring the security and safety of research sites and operations.

Job Description

This position requires a strong background in security risk management, with experience in conducting site visits, risk assessments, and surveys. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and be proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing security management programs and policies at country-wide research sites and operations. This will involve reviewing pre-award and award research funding requests, providing recommendations for security clearance, and conducting routine inspections and maintenance of physical and electronic security equipment.

The coordinator will also be responsible for conducting investigations into security incidents, training and awareness sessions for research coordinators and field staff, and maintaining an updated database of security reviews of grant projects.

In addition, the coordinator will work closely with district administration and law enforcement agencies to ensure the security of field workers and provide timely security intelligence information.

Requirements
  • A graduate degree from a recognized institution or equivalent military rank
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to carry out visits to country-wide research sites for risk assessment and surveys
  • Knowledge of local languages is preferred
