Lead Campus Operations

  • The Manager will support the Associate Dean in serving as a thought-partner and managing teams in the domains of Academic Advising, Student Success and Student Support Services.
  • Key responsibilities include improving advising across campus; conceiving and implementing innovative programs geared towards supporting students and enabling their success at LUMS.
  • Other aspects of these units include Petitions (i.e. academic accommodations in courses due to short-term emergencies); Orientation for incoming students; and administrative support to the central Disciplinary Committee (DC).

Key Accountabilities:

  • Managers are ultimately responsible for all their people and their work – the specific nature of the manager's contributions will depend on the needs of their teams at a particular point in time.
  • Vision, goal-setting and domain-enhancement involve working with OSA domain team leads and teams to develop vision/mission and long-term goals contributing to institutional strategy.
  • This includes ensuring the work of teams remains informed by global best-practices as well as changes in the LUMS context through research, community input, advisory boards, etc.

Leadership Development & Supervision:

  • The Manager is responsible for tracking each person's skillset relative to their current & future roles, and helping them develop new skills as appropriate.
  • Leadership development involves monitoring productivity systems, maintaining a professional culture, and sustaining high motivation in each team.
  • Supervision includes setting and tracking goals/projects, budgeting, reviewing annual budgets, and track/review expenses.
  • The Manager also reviews, improves, and approves key content developed by each domain through weekly content review meetings.
  • Additionally, the Manager initiates and monitors new projects with Team Leads, cultivating a positive work culture across all their teams characterized by trust, respect, open communication, and high morale.

Project & Operational Oversight:

  • The Manager oversees multiple teams' projects, ensuring successful progression and timely completion.
  • This involves coordinating with partners within OSA and outside, updating Associate Dean about progress of each OSA domain, and balancing multiple teams' projects.
  • The Manager also tracks progress effectively across teams, proactively identifying and troubleshooting potential challenges.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • The ideal candidate must have a proven track record of managing multiple reports or teams in a professional context.
  • They should have an interest in campus-level system-building and program design, implementation, and evaluation/refinement.
  • Strong team-management, project-management and teamwork skills, along with maturity, sound judgment, ability to remain calm under pressure, and coordination with a broad range of stakeholders across campus are essential.
  • A willingness to grow in general professional skills, including reliability, dependability, strong work-ethic, supervisory and teamwork skills, leadership, etc. is required.

Job Requirements:

  • At least a Bachelors (Hons.) from a globally reputable and accredited institution.
  • At least 8 years of relevant experience with 3-4 years in a supervisory role.
  • Candidates with experience in OSA-related domains such as academic advising, career services, scholarship student support, and other areas of student affairs will be preferred.
