Job Title: Character Designer

We are seeking an exceptional Character Designer to join our team in creating visually stunning and engaging content.

The successful candidate will bring our characters and objects to life with motions, gestures, and expressions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with the Animation Lead and Supervisor to produce high-quality animation that creates compelling, story-driven moments within the style and pacing of the film.
  • Work efficiently with Rigging and Pipeline departments to improve character setup, visual quality, rigs, and tool functionality.
  • Design and animate primary and secondary characters and elements.
  • Meet schedules and show deadlines.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with Production and Lead regarding schedules and deadlines.
  • Support the Lead in mentoring and training more junior artists.
  • Stay up-to-date with new tools, software, data, and technology.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a similar role as a Character Designer.
  • Proficiency in Maya and strong understanding of physical motion, weight, balance, texture, and form.
  • Familiarity with rigs, typical rigging set-ups, animation pipelines, and transferring data between tools.
  • Proven ability to work under pressure and adapt to change.
  • Excellent organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrable commitment to creative collaboration within a team and with other departments.
