Backend Engineering Leadership Opportunity

We are seeking a seasoned Backend Engineering Lead to spearhead our team's efforts in shaping the future of home services.

  • Lead and motivate a distributed backend engineering team, setting clear goals and driving execution.
  • Translate business needs into a quarterly roadmap, ensuring alignment of estimates and architecture.
  • Delegate tasks effectively, balancing workload while maintaining momentum on the roadmap and technical debt.
  • Participate actively in architectural discussions and collaborate with Product teams to design and develop new features.
  • Maintain high engineering standards through code reviews and feedback.
  • Handle complex, high-priority technical implementations.
  • Oversee release and deployment processes to ensure stability.
  • Identify root causes of recurring issues and work to reduce errors.
  • Conduct meaningful 1:1s, mentoring and coaching engineers.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable and reliable solutions.
  • Communicate transparently with stakeholders to ensure alignment.
  • Foster a motivated and collaborative team culture.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in backend software development at scale.
  • Deep expertise in Java and Spring Framework.
  • Strong understanding of microservices and distributed systems.
  • Knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases.
  • Experience with CI/CD, containerization, and AWS.
  • Track record of resolving technical and process bottlenecks.
  • Leadership skills, preferably across multiple geographies.
  • Excellent cross-functional communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Experience with error management, migrations, or scaling backend systems.
  • Background in e-commerce or large-scale platforms is a plus.
  • Experience working with external partners.
  • Curiosity about AI and emerging technologies.
