Lady Health Visitor

Job Summary: The successful candidate will work under the supervision of a medical officer within our clinical services provision team. Key responsibilities include provision of outpatient consultation services, conducting risk assessments, examining patients, prescribing treatments or referring them for further care, managing deliveries, assisting neonatal resuscitation, providing education and counseling on family planning, balanced diets, and vaccination, ensuring timely referrals, maintaining records, adhering to universal precautions, and promoting healthy practices.

Responsibilities:

• Provide comprehensive outpatient consultation services for sexual and reproductive health, under the direction of a medical officer, focusing on pregnant and delivering women during ANC and PNC.
• Collect patient history, conduct examinations, identify risk factors, and perform basic tests based on global standards for clinical care.
• Prescribe treatment or refer patients for gynecological conditions, under the supervision of a medical officer.
• Conduct nutritional assessments of women and children, referring malnourished individuals to partner organizations for further treatment and keeping proper records.
• Manage baby deliveries under the supervision of a qualified lady doctor when well-equipped facilities are available.
• Assist with neonatal resuscitation activities, under the supervision of a qualified medical doctor, when BEmONC and CEmONC services are provided at the facility.
• Counsel women individually or in groups on family planning, danger signs during pregnancy, ANC/PNC, exclusive breastfeeding, skilled deliveries, balanced diets, and vaccination.
• Ensure TT vaccination for women of childbearing age and children through appropriate referrals to relevant departments.
• Maintain accurate records of ANC/PNC registers, FP register, OPD register, and any MHNIS tools related to the maternal and child health unit.
• Adhere to and promote universal precautions for IPC during clinical care.
• Ensure timely referrals of complicated cases encountered at the point of care, based on international SRH clinical standards.
• Provide CMR/IPV services at the service delivery point under the supervision of a lady doctor, following necessary training and availability of needed PEP kits and supplies.
• Submit weekly reports of activities/patients based on established processes and protocols.
• Participate in review and planning meetings as part of the health team.
• Coordinate with other team members regarding service provision.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Hold a valid license to practice as a registered Lady Health Visitor (LHV), or community midwife from a recognized nursing institute.
• Prior experience in a similar capacity will be advantageous.
• Previous NGO experience is preferred.
• Excellent communication skills, especially on sensitive reproductive health topics.
• Ability to communicate in local languages will be beneficial.
